Winged Eyeliner Guide for Beginners

Drawing on a winged liner is a challenge for us all. Even when we do managed to draw on perfect wings, matching both eyes can be a nightmare. The fact that both our eyes are not always identical makes it that extra bit challenging.
The best advice I will give is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! You really need to get familiar with your eyes (shape, size, texture and degree of difference between the two eyes).

There are many different methods for doing a winged liner. However, I find that the following method is very effective when it comes to matching both sides.

1. Your eyes with no liner

2. First and most important step (in my opinion) is creating the angle and length of the wing.
I would advice you have your brows done before you start.
As seen on the diagram, draw a line from the lower lash line heading towards the end of the brows. Make that line about 5mm.
If you have a shaky hand then you can always use a tape or hold a card to help get a straight line. But I suggest practising without such help.

3. Now create a triangle by drawing another line from the tip of the previous line to the upper lash line. With a gap of about 5mm between the new and previous line (on the upper lash line as seen on diagram).

4. For this step try to draw a line  from where your lashes start (inner corner), going up at an angle until it meets the triangle. Do not over think!
Start from where you lashes start (inner corner), keep the line straight and connect it on the middle of that triangle (half way up the triangle).

5. Fill in that line, as seen on the diagram.

6. Fill in the triangle, as seen on the diagram.

Of course you wont get it right straight away, like I've said already just keep practising. Practise does make perfect.
Its always best to keep a cotton bud at hand with some makeup remover. This way you can always clean up, if you make a mistake.

Hope this was helpful guys! Happy winging ;)
