Makeup Geek Highlighters

I was two minds about purchasing these highlighters, due to the steep price. However, having heard so many positive reviews I decided to try a couple out.

      Lit                                                  Midnight Sun
I went for LIT (duo-chrome) and MIDNIGHT SUN (signature).
Lit is a duo-chrome with a slight goldish peachy-pink duo-chrome, and Midnight sun is a very warm gold.

                    Midnight Sun                                                      Lit
In my opinion these do not have the same formula as the foiled shadows. The highlighters are not as metallic.
It does take some building to achieve an intense highlight.
Unlike Midnight Sun, Lit was a bit chalky and crumbly.
I personally don't find them to be anything special, especially for the price, at £19.25 each.

Having said that, they're not bad highlighter and I do see myself wearing them.

My Top Five Eyeshadow Palettes

My obsession with eyeshadows is what ignited my passion for makeup. Therefore, eyeshadow palettes are my most collected makeup items.
Of course this meant I would have a tough time coming up with my top five, so you're getting an extra pick.

1) Z.Palette / Makeup Geek
Just a few swatches, left to right; Country Girl, Vintage, Morocco, Starry Eyed, Burlesque and Flame Thrower
My Z.Palette gets the top place, as its a palette I've created myself and is also my most used palette.
I have mostly matte neutrals; browns, burgundy and plumy type of colours.
I also have some foiled shadows in this palette. I use this palette for almost every occasion. Love it!
Favourite shades: Mesmerized, Vintage, Country Girl & Burlesque.

 2) Urban Decay Naked Palette (original)
Just a few swatches, left to right; Sin, Sidecar, Half Baked, Darkhorse, Toasted & Gun Metal

This palette has received a lot of hype in the YouTube world, and rightly so.
The palette consists of mostly warm toned shimmers with a couple of mattes. It is a very versatile palette, with which you can create looks from every day work to bridal and clubbing.
Favourite shades: Darkhorse & Toasted.
3) Lorac Pro (original)

Just a few swatches, left to right; Pewter, Espresso, Garnet, Slate, Gold & Mauve

This palette was very difficult to acquire, as its not available in the UK.
Again this is another very versatile palette and almost stole first place on my list. The quality of these shadows (in my opinion) is unmatched by any other. So very creamy and blendable, however this also makes these shadows vulnerable to cracking easily and creating fall-outs.
With equal amounts of mattes and shimmers you can't go wrong with this palette. I have to say Lorac certainly put a lot of thought in to creating this palette.
Favourite shades: Slate & Pewter.

4) Urban Decay Smoked

Just a few swatches, left to right; Blackout, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded & Mushroom
Now this probably is the most underrated palette EVER!
Don't understand why? I find that the quality of the shadows in this palette are better than any other Urban Decay palettes I have. The colour selection is gorgeous, with three most popular jewel tones for smokey eyes. It has a perfect amount of shimmers and mattes. And comes in a zipped case. Great for travelling.
Favourite shade: Mushroom.

5a) Morphe 35F (Fall)
Shades don't have names

This is a recent discovery, and has quickly made it to my top five. I have to say this is my favourite Morphe palette. Very trendy colours for now, with plumy, burgundy and golds. Mostly shimmers, with a row of mattes. Another well thought out palette.
Morphe eyeshadows are such good quality, extremely pigmented and buttery. The shimmer shadows are actually very foil like, and easy to work with.
Favourite shades: All the plumy shades.

5b) Lime Crime Venus Palette

Just a few swatches, left to right; Venus, Shell, Aura, Creation, Icon, Rebirth, Divine & Muse

 Yes, there's a sixth. I just couldn't help it.

Before I get started.....I am aware of the controversy surrounding this brand. However, I do own this palette and love it, so had to be honest and mention it.

The Venus palette is actually the first of its kind (burgundy rich tones).
It consists of two shimmers and six mattes. The eyesadows are very very pigmented and creamy. The reddish shades can stain your lids.
Favourite shades: All of them.
